Ally Spongr is the Project Coordinator for the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area and the Director & Curator for the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center. The organizations’ work includes preserving, protecting and promoting the historic, natural and cultural resources of the area stretching from Niagara Falls to Youngstown, New York. As the Director & Curator for the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, scheduled to open in late 2017, Ally oversees the implementation of the vision and goals, that includes educating the local community and visitors alike about the rich local heritage associated with the Underground Railroad and Abolitionist movement in Niagara Falls.
Prior to her current positions, Ally held positions at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, BT&C Gallery, and Arts Services Initiative of Western New York (ASI) – with whom she continues to assist with special projects and events. Serving in multiple capacities in the arts and cultural sector, her work includes curating exhibitions, event planning, project management, and program development. Ally holds her BFA in Fine Arts with a second major in Art History and has completed courses for her MA in Museum Studies on the Collections Management and Curatorial Track at Buffalo State College. She lives in Buffalo and is also a photographer, and exhibits her work throughout Western New York.
